Crossing the Bar

Sunrise and the morning star,

And one last call for me!

May there be no groaning at the bar,

When I finally find my keys.

But such a time must come for I need sleep,

Too full of whiskey and foam,

When that which caused the leap

Turns me back towards home.

Dawn and the morning bell,

And after the bright!

May there be no laughter or farewells

When I am set right;

For tho’ from out of Time and Place

The drink may bear me far,

I hope to see my love face to face

When I have crossed the bar.
